Ingredients
  

  • Fresh lump crab meat
  • Medium to large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Heavy cream
  • Unsalted butter
  • Dry white wine (Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay)
  • Old Bay seasoning
  • Garlic, minced
  • Onions, chopped
  • Paprika
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Seafood stock or water

Instructions
 

  • Rinse the shrimp under cold water, remove shells and tails, and devein.
  • Pick through fresh crab meat to remove shell fragments or fluff canned crab meat.
  • In a large soup pot, melt butter over medium heat and sauté onions until soft.
  • Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  • Stir in Old Bay seasoning, paprika, and cayenne pepper, cooking for 1-2 minutes.
  • Pour in white wine to deglaze the pan and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add seafood stock and bring to a gentle simmer, adding shrimp shells if using.
  • Puree the mixture until smooth using an immersion blender.
  • Reduce heat to low and stir in heavy cream until fully incorporated.
  • Add shrimp and crab meat, simmer for 10-15 minutes until cooked.
  • Adjust seasoning and consistency as needed before serving.

Notes

Use fresh seafood for the best flavor. Adjust the thickness by simmering longer or adding cornstarch mixed with water. Garnish with fresh herbs or a drizzle of cream.
