Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or blend)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Unfold the thawed puff pastry onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out to create an even rectangle about 12x9 inches.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Beat the egg in a small bowl to create an egg wash. Brush half of the pastry surface with this egg wash, then sprinkle the seasoned cheese mixture evenly over the brushed area.
  • Fold the plain half of the pastry over the cheese-covered half, press the edges gently to seal, then brush the entire surface with remaining egg wash.
  • Slice the filled pastry into strips about ¾-inch wide.
  • Transfer the crack sticks to your prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart. Twist each stick a few times.
  • Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
