Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) Flank Steak or Sirloin, sliced thinly against the grai
  • 2 cups Broccoli Florets, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 large Red Bell Pepper, sliced into thin strips
  • 2 medium Carrots, julienned or thinly sliced rounds
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Ginger, grated or finely minced
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce, low-sodium
  • 2 tbsp Honey or Brown Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil, high-smoke point

Instructions

  • Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Set aside.
  • Slice the Beef: Slice the beef into very thin strips against the grain.
  • Sear the Protein: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add the beef strips in a single layer and sear for about 2 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  • Sauté the Aromatics: Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the pan. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, stirring for about 30 seconds.
  • Stir-Fry the Vegetables: Add broccoli, bell peppers, and carrots. Stir-fry for 3 to 5 minutes until bright and tender-crisp.
  • Combine and Thicken: Return the beef to the pan, whisk the sauce again, and pour it over the ingredients.
  • The Final Toss: Toss everything together for 1 to 2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and vegetables.

Notes

Ensure all ingredients are prepped before starting to cook. Use high-heat oil and avoid overcrowding the pan for best results.
